Dr. Md. Sohel Rana

Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, is a Professor (Grade-I) in the Department of Pharmacy at Jahangirnagar University. He earned his B.Pharm (Honours) and M.Pharm degrees from the same university and completed his Ph.D. from Okayama University, Japan, in 2002 under a Monbusho Scholarship. Joining Jahangirnagar University as a Lecturer in 1994, he became a Professor in 2007 and has served as Department Chairman (2003–2006) and currently as Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). A distinguished researcher in Natural Products Chemistry and Drug Delivery Systems, Dr. Rana has published over 237 research papers and supervised 14 Ph.D., 2 M.Phil., and 132 M.Pharm students. He is also on the editorial boards of several reputed journals and was recognized as the International Young Scientist of 2007 by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge. Beyond academia, he holds key administrative and professional roles, including Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society, Senate Member of Jahangirnagar University (four terms), and President of the Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association (2025). He also led multiple university housing initiatives, serving as General Secretary of the JU Co-operative Housing Society (2022–2027), which won the national ‘Best Housing Complex Award’ for three consecutive years (2022–2024).
